GIVING BACK

Supporting communities they need

Boat for Huni Kuin Tribe

I feel it’s especially important to give back to the Indigenous communities that work with Be Shanti, because they are the true guardians of the wisdom we are sharing.

These communities have preserved their traditions, medicines and knowledge for generations, often while facing immense pressure from deforestation, land exploitation, economic marginalisation and limited access to basic resources. While they hold extraordinary cultural and spiritual wealth, they are frequently under-supported in practical ways.

In our most recent fundraising initiative, we raised £12,000 to provide the Huni Kuin community with a new boat fitted with a powerful engine.

For a community living deep in the rainforest, the river is their lifeline, connecting them to medical care, essential supplies and neighbouring villages. In the past, long and difficult journeys to the city have meant that people did not always reach medical help in time. With this new boat, travel time has been reduced by half, giving the community faster access to hospitals, safer transport and a far greater chance in emergency situations.
